Isn’t it funny that people that knew you while growing up often remember you from your past. They never allow themselves to see you in the present. It’s like they took a picture of you in their mind and as years went by and you’ve grown they only take that picture out to look at. They see you as the little girl or boy or just your parent’s child. But what they didn’t know was that all the while they were carrying that old mental picture of you, greatness was being developed. They thought the same about Jesus. Oh he’s just Joseph’s son. I know his mother, Mary. The Carpenter? I know his brothers and sisters. They could never see the greatness in him. Therefore he could not perform many miracles among them because they didn’t believe. Don’t be bothered by those who can’t see the greatness inside of you. By the time they realize who you are and what you’ve call to do You’ve moved on to others who will receive your greatness and gifting. You are not defined by who they say you are, but who God says you are!
Then they scoffed, “He’s just a carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon. And his sisters live right here among us.” They were deeply offended and refused to believe in him. (Mark 6:3 NLT)
