Conversation over lunch strengthens the soul

Today, I had lunch with one of my dear friends from college that I had not seen in a while. Friendships as relationships are sometimes difficult to maintain due to living in different states. But when we began talking, it felt as if we picked up where we left off, not skipping a beat. While eating great food, we laughed and talked so much that we had talked for at least an hour and a half, not realizing how the time had passed by. We discussed life, raising children, working, future dreams and challenges we have faced. But most importantly we were able to realize, that we are not alone. Alone in the fact that there is someone out there dealing with similar challenges. It was refreshing to know that hey, we all have challenges in life but by prayer and faith, it lifts us up out them all. It is so important to have someone to talk to that is not judgemental, where you can be yourself. Everyone needs a good support system. I am a very personal and guarded person and rarely discuss intimate details of my life. But, being able to have someone to talk to allows me and you to release all of your hurt, pain, disappointments, fears without holding it in. God told Adam that it was not good that he be alone. We all need someone. We have to be able to discern who we can trust to discuss our most intimate issues. But it is so freeing and refreshing to have Girl Talk. It’s about relating, strengthening one another and bearing each other up. I found a scripture that I thought was applicable which is 1 Peter 5:9 (Message) You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. RW
